...Is to fix my teeth. Fix my teeth...
The Invalign treatment is one of the most expensive options for the correction of mild issues like overcrowding or too much spacing in teeth. I chose this method in spite of the higher costs because of the vast benefits it provided. For one, I did not have to deal with possible painful ulcers that traditional braces often cause. Secondly, using this method, I can take my time to "upgrade" to a new of aligners whenever I feel ready. It did not require me to make frequent trips to the dentist for tightening or other intervention. I only needed to see the dentist regularly to ensure the treatment is progressing as planned. Lastly, it helps that these aligners are almost invisible. No one has been able to tell I am wearing braces except those who know me well because I did talk funny for a while. I had to adjust to these plastic moulds in my mouth and it meant I would sometimes speak with a mild lisp. I would also frequently splatter saliva on my audience, especially if there were many "S"es in my sentences.
I would strongly recommend this avenue for anyone who wants to correct their teeth but have held back because of the issues above from traditional braces.
For a year now, I've been wearing these invisible braces from Invisalign.
The Invisalign treatment requires me to wear a total of 15 sets of custom-made, industrial-strength plastic moulds over 30 weeks. Technically, I change into a new set every 2 weeks. Since each set is made closer to my desired set of teeth, I am that much closer to the teeth I want every 2 weeks.
My overcrowded Bugs Bunny front teeth were the reasons why I decided to seek treatment. Not only did my set of front teeth jut out, one tooth jutted out significantly more than the other. I always thought it gave me a lopsided smile and I had been conscious about it for a while.
As my treatment progressed, I started to take pictures along the way as it was very encouraging to see results happen just as my orthodontist said they would!
These pictures here were taken at different junctures of the treatment to "track" the progress I was making. Which was slow but steady because I'd wear my braces only at night for 8 hours a day, a far cry from the 20 hours a day as instructed.
Half-way into treatment
Errant tooth had "moved in" quite a bit although both front teeth were still not flushed.
With one more set to go, I can tell now that the front teeth is already flushed.
I think I am almost done! Although what was meant to be 30 weeks became almost 52...
